Island
From October 1, 2025, to January 7, 2026, the Chapter Museum of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo (Perugia) will host the return of The Coronation of the Virgin, a masterpiece commissioned from Raphael and completed by his pupils Giulio Romano and Gianfrancesco Penni for the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Monteluce. The work, on loan from the Vatican Museums, returns to Perugia for the first time since the Napoleonic confiscations of 1797. It will be exceptionally displayed together with the predella depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary by Berto di Giovanni, on loan from the National Gallery of Umbria.

San Lorenzo Island is an architectural complex comprising the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the 15th and 18th century cloisters, the former houses of the canons with the Chapter Museum, the archaeological area of Underground Perugia, and the Loggia of Braccio Fortebracci.
A journey through time, fifteen metres beneath the surface of Piazza IV Novembre, exploring layers of history spanning twenty-five centuries.
